Taste of summer
What a beautiful summer in the Bohemian Paradise! Swimming in Jizera river under the mountains, hiding from the summer storms. Hitting symbolically our foreheads with a stone to honour the god of lightning and thunder, Perun, when the first storm of the year came. Cherries, wild strawberries, blueberries, raspberries…the offerings for Mokos, the goddess of wetness and earth, during our midsummer ceremony. By the fire we sat and we sang for Ochún. And the swell season begun. Fire meeting water. Smell of hay mixed with the smell of petrichor. In my language summer is called Léto, after the Greek goddess of fertility and/or childhood.
